Stevenson advises Applied Material Solution on latest acquisition
Result: Technology and Equipment Acquired by Strategic Buyer
Industry: Manufacturing – Specialty Chemicals and Ceramics
Applied Material Solutions (AMS) of Elkhorn, Wisconsin was assisted by Stevenson & Company in its acquisition of technology and equipment from a public chemical company.
AMS engaged Stevenson & Company to assist in identifying, approaching and negotiating with select businesses in the specialty chemicals industry. The goal was to acquire products and technologies that would complement the existing AMS chemical businesses. Stevenson identified a soon-to-be decommissioned plant in Europe owned by a major public chemical company that produced colloidal silica, an attractive product line for AMS. Stevenson assisted in the negotiations to purchase the equipment, license the associated technology and close the transaction all on a tight time schedule. AMS intends to move the equipment to the US where the colloidal silica will be used in the manufacture of specialty ceramic products used in non-electronic applications.
Tom Rebernak, President of Applied Material Solutions, commented: “This acquisition provides a proven equipment and technology package for AMS to manufacture colloidal silica for non-electronic applications. Stevenson did an excellent job in identifying this opportunity and getting to the right people to complete the deal. ”
