Stevenson & Company completes the sale of World Warehouse and Distribution

Result:    Business Sold to Strategic Buyer

Industry: Logistics – Third Party Logistics Company

Stevenson & Company recently completed the sale of World Warehouse and Distribution, Inc. headquartered in Champlain NY, to NFI, one of the country’s most diverse supply chain solutions companies.

Founded in 1994, World Warehouse and Distribution (WWD) provides warehousing, transportation, freight cross docking, pick and pack, light assembly, custom packaging and order fulfillment services. It provides logistic management services for several Fortune 100 companies and has infrastructure dedicated to transborder shipments between Canada and the United States. The company’s five locations are in upstate New York and Montreal with warehouse space approaching one million square feet.

Stevenson took WWD to market in late 2009 after taking a pause in 2008 due the economic crisis. Stevenson researched the market, identifying over 300 strategic and financial buyers in its worldwide search for the right culture and fit. NFI was impressed with WWD’s operation and management team. “This acquisition expands NFI’s network of third party logistics and warehouse services, and further enhances our cross border capacity and capabilities” said NFI Chief Executive Officer Sidney Brown. “In turn, NFI provides the World Warehouse customer base with access to a vast network of integrated logistics services and supply chain solutions”.

NFI’s annual revenue grew to over $900 million in 2010. The completion of ten acquisitions in just ten years has position NFI as a nationwide third-party logistics services provider with 5,600 employees, over 19 million square feet of warehouse space, over 2,000 tractors and more than 7,200 trailers.
