Stevenson sells business of FMC Technologies to Emerson

Stevenson advises FMC Technologies on business divestiture

Result:    Corporate Divestiture Sold to Strategic Buyer

Industry: Engineered Solutions – Blending and Transfer Systems for Lubricants and Fuels

FMC Technologies (NYSE: FTI) has announced the divestiture of its Blending and Transfer Systems business (B&T), headquartered in Chicago, Illinois to the Automation Solutions Group of Emerson Electric Company (NYSE: EMR).  Stevenson & Company advised FMC Technologies on the sale.

For over 50 years, B&T has been a global leader in providing engineered solutions to the world’s major oil and chemical companies including Shell, ExxonMobil, British Petroleum, Valvoline and Chevron.  It offers solutions for blending various liquids such as lubricants, greases, fuels (gasoline and diesel), and chemical additives and then transferring these liquids to specific product storage and packaging locations for the customer.  B&T has provided more than 500 blending systems in more than 50 countries.

Stevenson & Company was retained as exclusive sale advisor to FMC Technologies.  Stevenson identified, evaluated and marketed the business to both strategic and financial buyers.  Emerson’s focus on automation solutions to the oil and gas and chemical industries made them a particularly well suited buyer of the business.  All of the employees have been retained and existing management will continue to run the day-to day operations.  The transaction allows the B&T business to accelerate its growth plans into new markets while allowing FMC Technologies to exit the business and focus on its core interests.  This marks the ninth business that Stevenson & Company has sold for FMC.
